Banking Operations Analyst

Employment Type: 1-Year Contract

Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour

Expected Start Date: September 28, 2026

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Hours: Eight-hour shift scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., including a one-hour lunch

Work Arrangement: On-site, five days per week

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Banking Operations Analyst to join a large financial institution on a one-year contract. In this role, you will process high-volume, time-sensitive banking transactions and provide operational support to Banking Centres and the Broker Network.

The successful candidate will have previous banking operations experience, strong knowledge of payment and registered product transactions, and the ability to maintain accuracy while processing more than 50 transactions per day during peak periods.

This position is well suited for someone who demonstrates sound judgment, critical thinking, professionalism, and a strong commitment to client service.

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Processing and Administration

  • Process banking transactions accurately and efficiently within established Service Level Agreement targets.
  • Support transactions related to:
    • Wire transfers
    • Electronic funds transfers
    • Cheques and bill payments
    • Registered purchases
    • Remote deposit capture
    • Cash management products
    • Business online banking
    • Business credit cards
    • Registered products, including RRSPs, RRIFs, and TFSAs
    • Estate-related transactions
  • Review customer forms and supporting documents for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide direct operational support to Banking Centres and the Broker Network.
  • Complete filing, records management, data entry, and other administrative tasks.
  • Maintain document control and electronic reporting for assigned processes.
  • Follow established policies and procedures, escalating exceptions or concerns when required.
  • Meet daily volume, accuracy, turnaround time, and service-level expectations.
  • Handle large-dollar and time-sensitive transactions with a high level of care and attention.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of customer and company information.
  • Complete additional operational or project-based duties as assigned.

Risk and Compliance

  • Ensure all transactions comply with internal policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and escalate transaction exceptions, discrepancies, or potential risks.
  • Minimize financial and operational risk by completing tasks accurately and within required timelines.
  • Exercise sound judgment when processing transactions with limited recourse, tax implications, or significant client impact.
  • Adhere to the organization’s Code of Conduct and confidentiality standards.

Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking

  • Investigate outstanding transactions, documentation issues, and processing discrepancies.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to identify practical solutions.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a high-volume environment.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities and urgent client requests.
  • Develop a strong understanding of operational manuals, job aids, policies, and procedures.
  • Recommend process improvements and share best practices with colleagues and leadership.
  • Apply consistent judgment to daily transactions while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build trust through open, honest, and respectful communication.
  • Take ownership of assigned work, commitments, and results.
  • Collaborate effectively within a diverse team environment.
  • Provide coverage during team member absences.
  • Assist with the training and onboarding of new team members as required.

Required Qualifications

  • One to two years of banking experience, preferably processing transactions in support of Banking Centres or branch operations.
  • Strong knowledge of banking payments and operational processes, including:
    • Wires
    • EFTs
    • Cheques
    • Bill payments
    • Credit cards
    • Online banking transactions
    • Cash management products
    • Broker support
    • Registered products such as RRSPs and TFSAs
  • Experience processing high transaction volumes, ideally 50 or more transactions per day.
  • Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal teams, Banking Centre employees, brokers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
  • Sound critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
  • Comfortable working on-site five days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with registered products, estates, remote deposit capture, or cash management services.
  • Experience working within established Service Level Agreements.
  • Knowledge of financial services compliance and operational risk controls.
  • Previous experience processing large-dollar or high-risk banking transactions.
  • Familiarity with banking transaction-processing platforms and electronic reporting tools.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
