Analytics Engineer building dbt data transformation pipelines and Snowflake data models for a Toronto-based hybrid role, supporting financial closure with POS data and payment vendor onboarding.
Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to fill their Analytics Engineer position! This is a 3 month contract-to-hire opportunity and will be hybrid 4 days on site in Toronto, Canada.
This role will be a W2 employee of Lighthouse Technology Services. No C2C or subcontracting arrangements will be considered.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead financial closure initiatives with POS data, partnering with Finance teams to onboard new payment vendors
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data transformation pipelines using dbt to support analytics, reporting, and data science initiatives
- Develop and implement data models in Snowflake that improve data consistency, accuracy, and performance across business domains
- Orchestrate data workflows in Airflow, ensuring data lands accurately for operational teams to make timely decisions
- Establish and maintain data quality checks, testing frameworks, and validation processes to ensure reliable data across the organization
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineering, product managers, and QA to resolve data issues and deliver trusted solutions
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline failures, performance issues, and discrepancies to maintain system reliability
- Proactively push back on stakeholders regarding unrealistic timelines, helping teams align on achievable delivery schedules
- Develop clear technical documentation including data models, lineage, transformation logic, and pipeline processes
- Promote analytics engineering best practices through daily standups, code reviews, and knowledge sharing sessions
What You'll Need to Have:
- 3+ years of analytics engineering, data engineering, or business intelligence engineering experience
- Strong SQL skills with hands-on experience building and maintaining complex data models
- Demonstrated expertise with dbt (Data Build Tool) for managing data transformations
- Experience working with Snowflake or similar enterprise cloud data warehouses
- Proficiency with Git/GitHub for version control and peer code reviews
- Strong understanding of dimensional data modeling, ELT workflows, and modern analytics architectures
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Cursor or similar AI agents)
- Excellent attention to detail when working with multiple payment vendors and complex data domains
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and confidently challenge timelines when needed
Pay Range: $35-37/hr CAD
