Analytics Engineer / BI & Data Engineer
Summary
An analytics/BI engineer joins a reporting migration project, analyzing legacy SQL-based reports in IFS Applications 10 and redesigning them for IFS Cloud. Day to day they build Power BI semantic models and advanced DAX measures, optimize report performance, and document transformation logic while collaborating with ERP, IT and business teams.
Job Description
I am looking for an experienced Analytics Engineer to join a reporting migration and modernization project within IFS Cloud. You will analyze existing SQL-based logic, design new BI solutions and work extensively with Power BI, including advanced DAX. Your responsibilities will include building robust data models, optimizing performance and ensuring reporting continuity. I expect strong expertise in SQL, Power BI and data modeling, along with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Project
- analyze existing SQL-based reports, views, queries, start pages and business tools in IFS Applications 10
- identify embedded business logic, data dependencies and transformation rules for redesign or migration to IFS Cloud
- develop interim or fallback solutions to ensure reporting availability during migration phases
- maintain, adapt and develop Power BI reports and dashboards for management and departments
- build semantic models, DAX measures and reusable data structures replacing legacy SQL reporting
- optimize refresh times, data volume, model structure and report performance
- model ERP master and transactional data for reporting and analytics
- document data sources, transformation logic, KPI assumptions and dependencies
- reduce dependency on undocumented expert knowledge hidden in SQL or workarounds
- collaborate with ERP, IT and business teams and translate requirements into BI solutions
- communicate technical constraints, risks and solution options to business and management
Skills
- strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft Power BI (semantic modeling, report development, Power Query)
- advanced DAX knowledge with ability to design and optimize complex KPI logic
- very strong SQL skills including refactoring and recreating complex queries
- solid understanding of data modeling principles and ERP data structures
- understanding of BI model performance optimization
- good understanding of business processes and KPI logic
- experience with IFS Applications 10 and/or IFS Cloud
Nice to have
- experience with data warehouse concepts (staging, transformation, semantic layers)
- basic knowledge of REST APIs, JSON and integration logic in cloud ERP environments
- experience in manufacturing, logistics, finance, quality or project-based environments
- experience with ERP migration, reporting modernization or transformation programs
