Android BSP (Board Support Package) Developer

Responsibilities:

  • Board Bring-Up: Booting new custom hardware from scratch, initializing the bootloader, and configuring low-level firmware

  • Kernel & Driver Development: Customizing the Linux Kernel and writing/porting device drivers for hardware peripherals (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, displays, touchscreens, sensors, and cameras)

  • HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) Implementation: Creating the interface that allows Android framework APIs to communicate with underlying hardware components securely

  • AOSP & Image Building: Compiling and configuring the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) to create modular OS images (such as boot.img, vendor.img, and system.img)

  • Testing & Certification: Ensuring compliance with hardware requirements by running Google Mobile Services (GMS) certification tests (CTS, GTS, and VTS)

Requirements:

  • Programming Languages: C, C++, and Java

  • Operating System Knowledge: Expert proficiency in Linux, including kernel internals, device trees, and memory management

  • Build Systems: Hands-on experience with Android Build System commands (e.g., lunch, m) and version control tools like Git and Gerrit

  • Debugging Tools: Using JTAG, gdb, adb, and fastboot for low-level system troubleshooting

  • Knowledge of Polish language
