Android Developer
Summary
Indea Design Systems is hiring a junior Android Developer (1-2 years experience) in Mangalore to build and maintain Android apps in Kotlin, integrate REST APIs, and ship polished features end to end with product, design, and backend teams. Core stack: Kotlin, Android SDK/Studio, Jetpack (ViewModel, LiveData/StateFlow, Navigation, Room).
- Build
and maintain Android applications using Kotlin.
- Develop
new features based on product and design requirements.
- Work
with REST APIs and integrate backend services into the mobile application.
- Build
clean, reusable, and maintainable UI components.
- Debug
issues, investigate crashes, and improve application stability and
performance.
- Write
unit and integration tests where appropriate.
- Participate
in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering practices.
- Work
closely with backend engineers to define and integrate APIs.
- Collaborate
with product and design teams to turn requirements into high-quality
mobile experiences.
- Help
diagnose and resolve issues reported from QA and production.
- Stay
up to date with modern Android development practices and libraries.
- Be
comfortable taking a feature from requirements to implementation.
- Be
able to understand an existing codebase and make changes without breaking
unrelated functionality.
- Think
about edge cases rather than only the happy path.
- Write
code that other developers can understand and maintain.
- Be
comfortable investigating problems instead of immediately looking for
someone else to solve them.
- Communicate
clearly with both technical and non-technical team members.
- Have
a genuine interest in building good mobile products.
Requirements
- 1–2
years of professional Android development experience.
- Good
knowledge of Kotlin.
- Good
understanding of the Android SDK and Android application lifecycle.
- Experience
building Android applications using Android Studio.
- Experience
working with REST APIs, JSON, HTTP, and authentication.
- Familiarity
with Jetpack components, particularly ViewModel,
LiveData/StateFlow, Navigation, and Room.
- Good
understanding of Git and standard software development workflows.
- Ability
to troubleshoot, debug, and solve problems independently.
- Good
understanding of object-oriented programming and basic software design
principles.
Nice to Have
- Experience
with Flutter and Dart.
- Experience
with Jetpack Compose.
- Experience
with Firebase, including Crashlytics and Analytics.
- Experience
with push notifications and deep linking.
- Experience
writing automated tests.
- Understanding
