- We are looking for talented Android Developers to join a digital delivery team working on services that make a real difference to people across the UK
- You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of developers, designers, product managers, delivery professionals and technical specialists to build, improve and maintain high-quality digital services used by millions of people

- Design, develop and maintain high-quality Android applications using Kotlin
- Translate user and business requirements into reliable, maintainable technical solutions
- Write clean, well-tested and maintainable code following modern Android development practices
- Work collaboratively with designers, product managers, QA professionals and other developers within an agile multidisciplinary team
- Participate in technical discussions, code reviews and architectural decision-making
- Develop automated tests and contribute to continuous integration and delivery processes
- Investigate and resolve technical issues, defects and performance problems
- Consider security, accessibility, privacy, resilience and performance throughout the development lifecycle
- Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team
- Help establish and maintain development standards, patterns and best practices
- Keep up to date with developments across the Android and wider mobile technology ecosystem
- Contribute to an inclusive, collaborative engineering culture and support colleagues through mentoring and knowledge sharing where appropriate

- Strong proficiency in Kotlin
- Experience using Git and modern software development workflows
- Experience diagnosing and resolving application defects and performance issues
- Experience with automated testing, including unit and UI testing
- Experience developing applications using modern Android development patterns and practices
- Good understanding of the Android SDK and Android development ecosystem
- Understanding of software engineering principles including clean code, modularity, maintainability and version control
- Strong commercial experience developing applications for Android
- Experience working with APIs and integrating mobile applications with backend services
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated build and deployment processes
- Experience with Java and maintaining or modernising existing Java codebases
- Experience with Jetpack Compose and/or traditional Android Views
- Experience with Android Jetpack libraries and modern Android architecture components
- Experience with asynchronous programming and Kotlin Coroutines

- Experience working with cloud-based services and RESTful APIs
