Android Software Engineer – High-Impact, Agile Team

Responsibilities

• Be involved in the whole cycle of product development on Android in the Search team from idea generation to delivery and analysis.
• Write simple, understandable, testable, and efficient code with a focus on solid technical stability and great user experience.
• Contribute to the implementation of complex features and design work within the team.
• Be part of cross‑team technical initiatives, participate in, and contribute to the team’s Agile practices.
• Implement unit tests within the team’s responsibility area.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Android development, familiar with Java or Kotlin.
• Good knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes.
• Basic understanding of RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back‑end services.
• Good to have knowledge about offline storage, threading, and performance tuning.
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
• Experience in working with Agile methodologies.
• Ability to make the right compromises to maximise early value delivery without compromising on quality.
• Fluent in English, in speaking and writing.
• Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices as well as an eye for design.
• Knowledge of gRPC.
• Strong desire to act according to values such as “Get shit done”, “Be helpful”, “Be fearless”, and “Never give up”.
