Android Software Engineer - rednote

Summary

Builds and optimizes the Android app for rednote, a global lifestyle community platform, focusing on core features, performance, and localized experiences.

Overview

rednote is one of the fastest-growing lifestyle community platforms in the world. We are building our client engineering team in New York City to craft product experiences for users across the globe. You will work on core features of the rednote mobile apps (iOS/Android), collaborating with teams across the US, Singapore, and China to bring "share and discover a wonderful life" to a global audience.

Responsibilities

  1. Design, build, and maintain core modules of the rednote app (iOS or Android), covering content consumption (Feed / note details / comments), content creation, and creator tools
  2. Optimize product experience for North American and global users: app launch time, smoothness, binary size, and performance under weak network conditions
  3. Drive 0-to-1 development of market-specific features, including localized interactions, multi-language support, and regional compliance capabilities (privacy, minor protection, etc.)
  4. Partner closely with product, design, backend, and algorithm teams to iterate fast while maintaining production quality; participate in code reviews and technical design
  5. Strengthen client infrastructure: stability monitoring, performance tracing, A/B experimentation framework, and CI/CD pipelines
  6. Explore AI-assisted development workflows and on-device intelligence scenarios

Nice to Have

  1. Experience with community / social / content products and an understanding of UGC-specific client challenges
  2. Experience with global products: multi-language, multi-timezone, and privacy compliance (GDPR / CCPA / COPPA)
  3. Cross-platform experience (Flutter / React Native) or dynamic framework development
  4. Background in audio/video, image processing, or on-device ML
  5. Active open-source contributions or technical writing
