API Developer (Java)

Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications and APIs used across enterprise platforms
Build secure and high-performing services using Java and modern backend frameworks
Create and improve REST-based integrations, ensuring reliability, scalability and maintainability
Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical design decisions
Develop event-driven solutions and support asynchronous communication between systems
Work closely with developers, QA engineers, product owners and infrastructure teams in Agile delivery streams
Ensure proper API documentation, versioning and monitoring standards are maintained
Troubleshoot production issues, optimise performance and contribute to service stability initiatives
Support cloud-native deployments and containerised environments

Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot
Good understanding of backend architecture principles, microservices and API design
Experience working with REST APIs and integration patterns
Familiarity with event-driven architecture and messaging platforms such as Kafka
Experience with cloud platforms and container technologies
Knowledge of build and dependency management tools such as Maven
Understanding of software quality practices, automated testing and troubleshooting
Ability to work collaboratively in Agile teams and communicate effectively with technical stakeholders
