Organizational Overview:

The Enterprise Integration Services team plays a pivotal role in connecting and orchestrating systems and applications across the organization. The team specializes in architecting, designing, implementing, and operating secure, scalable integration solutions (APIs, middleware, authentication, messaging, and file-based integrations) that enable seamless data flow, improve business functionality, and support enterprise modernization initiatives. Middleware is critical application for supplying data to different backend, front-end systems & Synchrony applications.

Role Summary/Purpose:

As an Software Development Engineer I, you’ll be a part of an amazing team working on our micro service, APIs throughout the entire development process leveraging cloud technologies. You’ll participate in hackathons, partner with universities on innovation events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build Microservices, MFE’s & API’s leveraging cloud technologies with high quality and sound design principles

  • Manage DevOps pipelines for Microservices, MFE’s & API’s

  • Analyze production defects, troubleshoot systems, identify root cause and implement fixes

  • Work with third party vendors to develop software and/or integrate their software into our products

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

  • Participate in Agile scrums with cross-functional teams

  • Participate in Agile sprints including story writing, planning, daily standups, backlog grooming sessions and reviews

  • Participate in SAFe ceremonies

  • Provide on-call support

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Technical Expertise in Java, Spring Projects - Spring Boot, Spring Framework, React JS, Spring Cloud, Git, Maven, REST and SOAP

  • Understanding of Agile application development and familiarity with tools like JIRA

  • Understanding how to write unit, integration and e2e tests using frameworks like Junit, Mockito, Spring Test

  • Understanding of continuous integration environments and using tools like Jenkins

  • Strong desire to develop high quality code with ability to review and leverage quality check tools like Sonar, PMD etc.

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and frameworks

  • Ability to analyze, use structured problem solving and available tools to troubleshoot systems, identify root cause, action plans, impact and resolution options

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Familiarity in designing application using SOLID principles, Java and microservice design patterns with business acumen

  • Working knowledge in RDBMS

  • Ability to analyze, use structured problem solving and available tools to troubleshoot systems, identify root cause, action plans, impact and resolution options

Eligibility Criteria:

Bachelor’s Degree with 1-2 years of experience in Technology, or in lieu of degree 3-4 years of experience in Technology.

Work Timings: 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM IST

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs
