Application Architect / Functional Analyst

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Application Architect / Functional Analyst to support the modernization of a complex IT environment combining legacy systems with modern Cloud and hybrid architectures. You will help improve architecture, reduce technical debt, and ensure secure, scalable and maintainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform functional and technical analysis for business projects.
• Design and review application, data and integration architectures.
• Advise development teams on technologies, architectural patterns, performance and scalability.
• Lead design reviews and validate Proofs of Concept.
• Ensure compliance with architecture, security and development standards.
• Bridge communication between business, development, security and infrastructure teams.
• Analyse and resolve complex business and technical problems.
• Ensure consistency between legacy and modern systems.
• Apply Security by Design principles and translate NIS2 requirements into technical measures.
• Document architectural decisions and support knowledge sharing within teams.

Requirements

• Strong experience in functional analysis and application architecture.
• Expert knowledge of modern Java, Spring, microservices, API-driven and event-driven architectures.
• Good knowledge of data modelling, data integration and data security.
• Strong experience with relational databases, particularly MySQL.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Strong knowledge of Atlassian/Jira.
• Experience working within a federal public-sector environment is an advantage.
• Knowledge of security, compliance and NIS2 requirements.
• Languages: Dutch, French and English.
