Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Application Architect to design and deliver enterprise application solutions for our customers. The role is responsible for translating business and technical requirements into secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective application architectures across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.

The Application Architect will work closely with customers, sales and presales teams, project managers, developers, cloud engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and technology partners throughout the solution lifecycle—from requirement discovery and proposal development to implementation, governance, and transition to support or managed services.

The successful candidate should possess strong application architecture and software-development knowledge, together with effective consulting, stakeholder-management, and technical-leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

Application and Solution Architecture

  • Design enterprise application architectures based on customers’ business objectives, technical requirements, security needs, budgets, and operational constraints.

  • Develop end-to-end solution designs covering applications, integrations, data, cloud infrastructure, security, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing operations.

  • Define architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, reusable frameworks, and application-development guidelines.

  • Design secure, scalable, highly available, resilient, and maintainable applications across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.

  • Support application-modernization initiatives, including rehosting, re-platforming, refactoring, system integration, and legacy-system replacement.

  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies, platforms, frameworks, integration methods, and deployment models.

  • Conduct technical assessments, architecture reviews, proof-of-concept exercises, and solution-design validation.

  • Ensure that proposed solutions balance technical quality, customer requirements, delivery timelines, and commercial considerations.

Cloud-Native Application Development

  • Design cloud-native and distributed applications using microservices, APIs, containers, serverless technologies, and event-driven architecture.

  • Define suitable application deployment and integration patterns using public-cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure.

  • Promote DevSecOps practices, including continuous integration and deployment, automated testing, infrastructure as code, monitoring, and security controls.

  • Advise customers on cloud adoption, application migration, scalability, resilience, performance optimization, and cost management.

  • Support the responsible adoption of AI-enabled application capabilities with appropriate data-security, privacy, and governance controls.

Integration and Data Architecture

  • Design secure and reliable integrations among enterprise applications, cloud services, third-party platforms, and legacy systems.

  • Define API strategies, integration patterns, interface standards, data flows, and identity and access requirements.

  • Ensure that application and data designs comply with customer requirements relating to privacy, retention, residency, classification, and protection.

  • Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, data, AI, and cybersecurity teams to ensure consistency across the overall solution architecture.

Client Consulting and Presales Support

  • Facilitate customer workshops to understand business requirements, technical environments, operational challenges, risks, and future objectives.

  • Translate business requirements into clear solution architectures, technical specifications, implementation plans, and technology roadmaps.

  • Present technical proposals and architecture recommendations to customers’ business leaders, IT management, and technical teams.

  • Support sales and presales activities by contributing to proposals, tenders, statements of work, project plans, effort estimates, and solution presentations.

  • Assist in responding to requests for information, requests for proposals, and other tender requirements.

  • Develop trusted-advisor relationships with customers and identify opportunities for application enhancement, modernization, and additional services.

Technical Governance and Project Delivery

  • Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle and ensure that implementation remains aligned with the approved architecture.

  • Review technical designs, application structures, integration specifications, security controls, testing strategies, and deployment plans.

  • Identify architectural risks, technical dependencies, assumptions, constraints, and technical debt, and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.

  • Ensure compliance with internal architecture standards, customer policies, security requirements, industry practices, and contractual obligations.

  • Work closely with project managers to manage technical scope, resources, timelines, deliverables, and change requests.

  • Support performance testing, security assessment, troubleshooting, production readiness, and transition to support or managed-service teams.

  • Assist with the resolution of complex technical issues and provide architectural guidance during major incidents when required.

Team Collaboration and Capability Development

  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers, technical leads, engineers, and other project team members.

  • Promote consistent engineering standards, secure-development practices, documentation requirements, and quality controls.

  • Participate in technical knowledge sharing, internal training, and capability-development activities.

  • Contribute to the development of new service offerings, reusable solution components, technical frameworks, and solution accelerators.

  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and assess their relevance to the Company’s services and customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in application development, software engineering, solution design, or technology consulting.

  • At least 2 years of experience in an Application Architect, Solution Architect, Technical Architect, Technical Lead, or equivalent role.

  • Proven experience in designing and delivering enterprise applications within a systems integration, technology consulting, or professional-services environment.

  • Strong understanding of application architecture, software-design principles, design patterns, integration architecture, data architecture, and security architecture.

  • Hands-on experience with modern application-development technologies such as .NET, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or comparable enterprise technology stacks.

  • Practical experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, containers, serverless computing, messaging, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems.

  • Good knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, caching, data integration, and application-performance optimization.

  • Experience with public-cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure, and cloud-native architecture and services.

  • Experience with DevOps and DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, source control, automated testing, monitoring, and infrastructure as code.

  • Good understanding of application security, identity and access management, data protection, privacy, and secure software-development practices.

  • Ability to prepare clear architecture diagrams, design documents, technical specifications, project estimates, and implementation roadmaps.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, consulting, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Ability to explain complex technical matters clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to handle multiple customer engagements and priorities in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.

  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Proficiency in Cantonese is required, while Putonghua is an advantage.
