Job Description

Application DBA (Apps DBA) is responsible to perform database Administration activities such as database setup, defining/maintaining database objects, backup and recovery. He/she is also involved in database design and review, application SQL tuning and maintaining documentation meeting customer’s expectation. In addition, the candidate is preferred to have experience in database migration to cloud platforms using tools such as AWS DMS, Oracle OGG or Qlik Replicate.

What will you do?

- Monitor and optimize database performance and availability, ensuring service levels are met and implementing improvements when needed.

- Manage database operations and governance, including configuration, permissions, hardening standards, naming standards, and documentation.

- Ensure service continuity, leading backup/restore procedures and disaster recovery planning.

- Lead database implementation and support application teams, reviewing database design and recommending improvements to data models.

- Establish and enforce database standards and procedures across implementations.

- Engage stakeholders and educate teams, explaining technical decisions and promoting best practices in coding and design.

- Develop team capability, mentoring junior DBAs, conducting training, and sharing knowledge across the organization.

- Stay updated with database technologies and contribute lessons learned to internal knowledge repositories.

Qualifications

- Minimum 2 years of experience in database administration.

- Experience with either Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL.

- Experience in database migration projects.

- Specifically, migration from Oracle to Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle to PostgreSQL.
