Summary
Build the iOS and Android apps AoFrio technicians use to pair with commercial refrigeration controllers over Bluetooth, pull diagnostics and push configs. Day to day you develop native mobile features in Swift/Kotlin (Flutter a plus), working close to the metal with BLE, geolocation and push notifications, owning work from ticket to store release.

The role
Every AoFrio controller in the field ends up talking to a phone. A technician in São Paulo opens our app, pairs with a cooler over Bluetooth, pulls the diagnostics, pushes a new config, and gets on with their day. You'll build the apps that make that happen, across iOS and Android, and you'll own your work from the first ticket through to the store release.

Our controllers, monitors and gateways sit inside coolers for Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and AB InBev, and the software on top turns them into data our customers actually act on. Energy saved, stock protected, technicians sent to the right site.
We run supply chain, logistics and R&D out of our Auckland HQ, with offices in four countries and people in twelve. It's a small enough team that your work is visible, and a global enough business that it matters.

We're a global business with the corporate parts that come with that and we're also a place where plenty of things don't have a process yet. Some areas are polished, others you'll end up shaping yourself. If you like a bit of room to do that, you'll be fine here.
The Auckland office is properly international and the personalities are all over the place. Quiet, loud, neurodiverse, people at every stage of life. Nobody has to fit a particular mould to do well here. On Thursdays you might also run into a dog.
On AI: we use it, we pay for premium tools and we'd rather you spent your time on hard problems than on boilerplate. If you want to bring AI into how you work or into what we build, you won't need to make a business case for it first.

The role

You will do:
- Own your workstreams end to end, from definition of ready through to deployment
- Build mobile features in Swift and Kotlin, working close to the metal with Bluetooth, geolocation and push notifications
- Review codes and write code that's worth reviewing
- Make the design and trade-off calls inside your patch, then explain the reasoning to the people it affects
- Work with hardware, firmware and product people to chase down the bugs that live in the gap between the app and the device
- Be one of the people others come to when they want a second opinion
You’ll need:
- Experience building mobile applications in Swift, Kotlin or Flutter including maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with Bluetooth Low Energy on iOS (CoreBluetooth) and/or Android, beyond using a wrapper library (connection lifecycle, GATT services and characteristics, background scanning and debugging intermittent, hardware-dependent failures).
- A track record of writing maintainable, well-structured code and the habit of giving useful code review.
- The ability to explain a technical problem to someone who doesn't write software.
- Demonstrated ability to understand app concurrency, lifecycle bugs, data races, ordering and state-restoration issues, background activity and crashes reproducible only in the field.
- Beneficial: Flutter or similar cross-platform technology and understanding of Agile methodologies.
- Beneficial: Experience with REST, JSON, SQL or NoSQL queries, log search.
