Application Engineer for SiC JFET

The Applications Engineer will be involved throughout the entire product lifecycle, from new product development to post-production technical support. The primary responsibilities include defining development targets and validating the performance of SiC JFET and SiC JFET Cascode (750V/1200V) technologies through comprehensive experimental evaluation.

This role requires hands-on expertise in power electronics lab equipment, including high-voltage power supplies, digital oscilloscopes, electronic loads, and DMMs.

Beyond product evaluation, this position focuses on driving application-oriented technical solutions, contributing to product definition, and establishing application strategies. The engineer will lead design-in activities with key customers, perform application circuit design and validation, and collaborate closely with internal R&D and marketing teams to enhance product competitiveness.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute technically to achieving Business Unit (BU)’sgoals in the Application team
  • Define product specifications for SiC JFET and SiC JFET Cascode devices
  • Perform comprehensive experimental validation and data analysis of product performance
  • Design and implement customized test circuits and automated test systems for device characterization
  • Design and validate evaluation boards tailored to target applications
  • Provide customer design reviews and technical support, including design-in activities
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts, including root cause analysis and resolution of customer issues
  • Develop and deliver collateral materials (datasheets, application notes, user guides, etc.)
  • Analyze market and technology trends and benchmark competitor products for SiC JFET and SiC JFET cascode
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Product Marketing, and Quality teams to improve products and influence roadmap decisions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in power electronics or power semiconductor field
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Solid understanding of power semiconductor devices such as Si/SiC MOSFETs and JFETs
  • Understanding of SMPS (Switching Mode Power Supply) and power conversion systems
  • Hands-on experience in power electronics measurement, experiment design, and data analysis

Preferences:

  • Experience in application engineering or device characterization in semiconductor or electronics industry
  • In-depth knowledge of SiC JFET, cascode structures, and power MOSFETs
  • Experience with various power conversion topologies (LLC, PFC, etc.)
  • Application experience in Automotive, Industrial, or Renewable Energy sectors
  • Customer-facing experience, including design-in or Field Application Engineering (FAE) roles
  • Familiarity with technical tools: P-Spice, SIMetrix, MATLAB, TCAD
  • PCB design experience using tools such as Allegro or Altium
