About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Application Engineer to join our IT Shared Services team on a Permanent Basis. This role evaluates, designs, and delivers technology solutions that support MTC's business and operational objectives across its applications and data landscape. The role leads the lifecycle of business systems, from requirements analysis and solution design through to implementation and optimisation, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and effective. Working closely with stakeholders, the Application Engineer translates business needs into practical technical solutions and provides expert advice on enterprise applications and data platforms.

Reporting to the Head of Applications & Enterprise Architecture, key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate business needs into scalable technology solutions aligned with MTC's strategic objectives and Applications Roadmap.
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, design, implementation, integration, and optimisation of enterprise applications, platforms, and technology solutions.
  • Identify and deliver automation opportunities, process improvements, and AI-driven solutions to enhance operational efficiency and organisational capability.
  • Define, scope, plan, and manage technology projects, including the development of technical specifications, project estimates, and delivery plans.
  • Conduct risk assessments, impact analysis, and solution reviews to ensure successful project outcomes and minimise technical risks.
  • Ensure the stability, performance, security, and compliance of the application ecosystem, adhering to organisational policies, regulatory requirements, ISO 27001 standards, and quality frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, facilitate knowledge sharing, and provide training to support the effective adoption and ongoing support of solutions.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships, present findings and recommendations, and manage project deliverables to achieve agreed business outcomes.

About You

The ideal applicant we are seeking will have:

· Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in business applications, systems analysis, and data analysis.

· Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst and/or Systems Analyst, including business process analysis, solution design, requirements gathering, documentation, and continuous improvement.

· Proven experience delivering large-scale business application projects and working across enterprise technology environments, including cloud and on-premises platforms.

· Strong technical knowledge of CRM platforms (such as Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics 365), Business Intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, TM1), and data management technologies.

· Experience working with SQL-based databases, data warehousing, data integration, and ETL tools such as SQL Server, Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Talend, MuleSoft, or SSIS.

· Sound understanding of project delivery methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver successful outcomes.

· Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and relationship management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes.

· Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, a commitment to continuous learning, and a strong understanding of governance, security, compliance, and quality frameworks, including ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 standards
