Gulf Electroquip is located in Houston, Texas, USA. We specialize in new, remanufactured and repaired AC and DC motors and generators for the oil & gas, dredging, paper, petrochemical, mining, utilities and transportation industries. Our power equipment can be engineered and manufactured to meet the specific needs of our clients. All our engineering is performed at our facility making sure that exact specifications are met.

The Application Engineer is responsible for translating customer technical requirements into engineered motor and generator solutions for both Gulf Electroquip and IDEAL Electric products. This role bridges sales, engineering, and production by reviewing specifications, developing mechanical designs, supporting quotations, and ensuring manufacturability. The position combines hands-on mechanical engineering with customer-facing technical support and internal problem solving.

This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, clear communication skills, and the ability to move between detailed engineering work and practical shop-floor realities

Customer & Application Support
• Review RFQs, specifications, drawings, and technical requirements.
• Clarify scope with customers and sales as needed.
• Develop conceptual and detailed mechanical solutions aligned with customer needs.
• Prepare technical clarifications and assist with proposal development.
• Participate in customer calls to resolve technical questions pre- and post-order.

Mechanical Engineering & Design
• Create and modify 3D models and drawings.
• Design mechanical components including housings, shafts, bearing fits, mounting structures, and assemblies.
• Perform tolerance stack-ups and fit/function validation.
