Application Manager – Business Applications & AI
Description
About Station
Satcom:
Station Satcom is a maritime satellite
communications managed-service provider supporting around 8,000 vessels from
offices in Singapore, India, the UAE and the Netherlands. The business runs on
a portfolio of applications — Zoho One (Desk, CRM, Books and others), our
billing and purchasing platform, partner portals — and a growing set of AI
workers built into those systems.
About the
Role:
We are looking for an Application Manager
to own the business applications Station Satcom runs on, and to lead how we
build AI into them. You will keep critical systems such as our billing and
purchasing platform stable, secure and well documented, while running the
projects that put AI to work across the business: AI agents inside Zoho,
API-based integrations with large language models, and automation that removes
manual work from Support, Finance and Operations. You are the bridge between
users, vendors and technical teams, and the person accountable for making our
applications do what the business needs.
Requirements
Key
Responsibilities:
Application ownership
- Own the full lifecycle of core
business applications: requirements, selection, implementation,
configuration, upgrades and retirement.
- Act as system owner for the
billing and purchasing platform (currently IBIS), covering purchasing and
billing workflows, rate plans, month-end runs, and data consistency
between billing, CRM and finance systems.
- Lead evaluation, data migration,
parallel running and cut-over when an application is replaced.
- Serve as the escalation point for
application issues; manage vendors to their SLAs and hold them accountable
for fixes, patches and releases.
- Analyse user needs and translate
them into clear requirements, enhancements and integrations.
AI capability and integration
- Run AI projects end to end: define
the use case, build the business case, choose the approach
(platform-native, API-based or custom build), deliver, and measure the
result.
- Understanding how AI workers and
agents running inside our applications (for example Zia agents in Zoho
Desk and CRM), including their configuration, prompts, knowledge sources,
guardrails and performance.
- Design and manage integrations
between our applications and AI services through APIs (for example OpenAI,
Anthropic Claude, Azure OpenAI and Zoho Zia), including authentication,
rate limits, cost control, logging and error handling.
- Direct external AI developers and
vendors: set requirements, review deliverables, and ensure all code,
prompts, credentials and data flows are documented and owned by Station
Satcom.
- Track AI cost, accuracy and
adoption; report outcomes to management and retire what does not deliver
value.
- Maintain a prioritised roadmap of
AI opportunities across Support, Finance, Sales and Operations.
Governance, security and documentation
- Protect application data
integrity, access control and security, working with IT Security on access
reviews, API key and secret management, and vendor security assessments.
- Apply the company’s AI governance
and data-privacy policy: what data may be sent to AI services, human
review of AI output, and audit trails.
- Maintain controlled documentation
of configurations, integrations, procedures and workflows in line with our
ISO 9001 quality management system.
- Work with the Training team to
train and support end users on applications and AI tools.
Requirements:
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer
Science or a related field.
- 5+ years managing business
applications, including hands-on system ownership of a billing,
purchasing, ERP or finance application.
- Proven delivery of at least one AI
project into production (not only a pilot), such as an LLM-based
assistant, AI agent, or document or email automation.
- Working knowledge of REST APIs,
webhooks, JSON and common integration patterns; able to read API
documentation and test integrations independently.
- Practical understanding of how
large language models behave: prompting, retrieval-augmented generation
(RAG), context limits, hallucination risk, output evaluation and cost per
call.
- Project management capability:
planning, vendor management, risk tracking and stakeholder reporting.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and
clear written and spoken English.
- Ability to work across time zones
with teams in India, Singapore, the UAE and Europe.
Desirable
- Billing Applications
administration
- Scripting in Python or JavaScript.
- Experience in telecoms, satellite
communications or the maritime industry.
- Familiarity with data-privacy law
(India DPDP Act, Singapore PDPA, GDPR) and AI management standards such as
ISO/IEC 42001.
- Certification in project
management (PMP, PRINCE2) or in cloud or AI platforms.
What Success
Looks Like in the First 12 Months:
- Billing and purchasing platform
fully handed over, documented, and running without unresolved billing or
data-integrity incidents.
- 1 or more AI use cases live in
production, each with measured time or cost savings.
- Every API and AI integration
recorded with its owner, data flow, credential location, running cost and
fallback procedure.
