Manages an application portfolio in Pune, leading a team of 4-5 engineers through the full SDLC to deliver high-volume, multi-channel solutions using Java, Angular, DevOps and CI/CD. Not a hands-on coding role — focus is on solution design, sprint planning, vendor management and people management.
Role & responsibilities
Role: Lead a team of 4-5 M1 engineers, covering technical guidance, project coordination and people management. This is not a hands-on coding role. Must be very strong with people management.
Key responsibilities
- Turn business plans and functional specs into scalable, maintainable solution designs, working with architects, BAs and consultants
- Deliver resilient, secure, multi-channel, high-volume, high-transaction solutions, cloud-based and on/off-premise, using DevOps with both Agile/Scrum and Waterfall practices
- Run the team through the full SDLC and release cycle, ensuring adherence to company policies, standards and controls
- Own sprint planning, execution tracking, incident support and troubleshooting
- Review technical solutions and ensure technical specifications are properly documented and reviewed
- Manage the application portfolio and coordinate with Ops, Infrastructure, QA and business leaders
- Ensure appropriate technical management of vendors (offshore, application, service)
- Mentor engineers, set goals, give feedback and manage performance
Must-have
- Bachelors in Computer Science, CIS or a related field, plus 15+ years in software development
- Full-stack development background with experience in Java and Angular
- Strong DevOps and CI/CD experience
- Very strong people management skills
- 12+ years on SDLC-based solution delivery
- 10+ years in a technical leadership role, with or without direct reports
- Experience with project coordination, planning meetings and Scrum/Agile execution
- Exceptional communication skills
