Application Support Engineer (Database)
Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced SQL Database Administrator, internally known as Application Support Engineer (Database) with a strong background in Level 2 application support. The ideal candidate will maintain and secure Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL environments while resolving application, integration, and data-related issues.

Responsibilities:
- Provide Level 2 support for application, integration, data, and database-related incidents.
- Administer Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL across production, test, and development environments.
- Manage database installation, configuration, patching, maintenance jobs, backups, and restores.
- Monitor database health, availability, performance, capacity, and scheduled jobs.
- Resolve performance issues involving queries, indexes, blocking, deadlocks, and long-running processes.
- Administer database access, roles, permissions, encryption, auditing, and security controls.
- Support database migrations, application upgrades, releases, testing, and deployment activities.
- Use
T-SQL and PowerShell to investigate issues and automate routine administrative tasks. - Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, reports, and accurate support records.
- Take ownership of assigned issues and communicate progress, risks, and resolutions to stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in
Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, with at least 3 years of combined application support and database administration experience. - Strong experience administering Microsoft SQL Server, including configuration, patching, maintenance, monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, or similar cloud database platforms.
- Strong T-SQL skills and experience using PowerShell or equivalent automation tools.
- Experience managing database security, access controls, backups, restores, capacity, and disaster-recovery activities.
- Experience supporting enterprise applications and working within ITSM incident, request, problem, and change-management processes.
- Microsoft Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300) certification is desirable, while exposure to Always On, clustering, replication, SSIS, SSRS, Power BI, or Azure Monitor is advantageous.
- Strong English communication, ownership, and ability to work with Australian stakeholders.
- Willing to work full-time in the office located at Arcovia, Brgy. Ugong, Pasig City (Monday-Friday, morning shift).
