Application Support Engineer (Google Cloud Platform/GCP, Financial Markets)

Client introduction

Our client is a leading international bank. It is expanding its Financial Markets technology team in Singapore. This newly created role supports a strategic new data analytics and reporting platform built on Google Cloud Platform, used by trading, risk management, and other global stakeholders for intraday and end-of-day risk, P&L, reconciliation, and management reporting. The successful candidate joins a global technology squad with members across Singapore, Europe, and India, providing dedicated support during Asia trading hours while contributing to the platform's ongoing reliability and development.

Job responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day production and application support for a GCP-based Financial Markets data analytics platform, keeping it reliable during Asia trading hours
• Support traders, risk management, and other business users, investigating and resolving production and data-related issues
• Take ownership of incidents end to end, through investigation, resolution, and clear communication with business and technology stakeholders
• Troubleshoot application, data-quality, and performance issues using SQL, logs, and observability tools
• Work closely with developers, infrastructure teams, and global squads to resolve more complex technical issues
• Identify recurring production issues and contribute to longer-term fixes and platform improvements through the squad backlog
• Support testing, release, and deployment activities to introduce changes safely into production
• Contribute to automation and AI-assisted operational improvements across monitoring and observability
• Participate in a global standby rotation, typically one week per month on New York hours, Monday to Friday, with a shift allowance provided

Job requirements

• At least 4 years of relevant experience in application or production support within a cloud environment, with experience supporting production systems in a business-critical environment.
• Hands-on experience supporting applications or platforms on Google Cloud Platform is the primary requirement
• Banking or financial services experience strongly preferred
• Strong SQL and data-analysis skills, with the ability to troubleshoot data-quality, performance, and reliability issues
• Good to have - Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and ELK or Kibana
• Working understanding of incident and problem management in a production environment; familiarity with ITIL, CI/CD, and automation is an advantage
• Experience supporting traders or a Financial Markets environment is desirable, with exposure to Rates or Credit Derivatives an advantage
