Application Test / QA Test Engineer / Automation Engineer

Compensation: ₹7L – ₹14L • No equity

**About the role ** This is a full-time remote role based in India. The role may require occasional travel, approximately 10%–20%, for conferences, team meetings, client meetings, training sessions, or industry events. **Key Responsibilities** • Design, write, and execute test cases for desktop, mobile, and web applications. • Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, sanity, exploratory, and usability testing. • Review product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to identify gaps, risks, and edge cases. • Log clear, detailed, and reproducible defects with screenshots, videos, logs, and supporting evidence where required. • Verify bug fixes and perform regression testing to ensure existing functionality is not impacted. • Test applications across different browsers, devices, operating systems, and screen sizes. • Work with developers and product teams to clarify expected behavior and resolve quality issues. • Analyze application logs, error messages, user reports, and system behavior to help identify root causes. • Create and maintain QA documentation, including test cases, test plans, defect reports, and release testing summaries. • Participate in release readiness activities and provide clear QA sign-off recommendations. • Suggest improvements to testing processes, tools, documentation, and automation coverage. • Take ownership of QA practices and contribute to building scalable testing processes as the startup grows. • Communicate testing progress, risks, blockers, and results clearly in a remote work environment. • Travel occasionally for conferences, meetings, training, or business-related events as required. **Required Skills and Qualifications** • 4+ years of professional experience in software testing or QA engineering. • Hands-on experience testing desktop, mobile, and web applications. • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, test case design, defect lifecycle, SDLC, and agile development practices. • Experience with functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, and exploratory testing. • Ability to identify edge cases, user experience issues, workflow gaps, and system behavior inconsistencies. • Experience using bug tracking or test management tools such as Jira, TestRail, Zephyr, Azure DevOps, or similar. • Ability to write clear test cases, defect reports, and QA status updates. • Basic technical troubleshooting skills, including reproducing issues, reviewing logs, and working with developers to isolate problems. • Good understanding of browser compatibility, mobile responsiveness, and crossplatform testing. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a remote environment. • Comfortable with occasional travel for conferences, meetings, or business events. • Interest in working in a startup environment with high ownership, flexibility, and growth potential. • High attention to detail and strong ownership of testing outcomes. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. **Preferred Skills** • Experience with API testing using tools such as Postman, Swagger, or similar. • Basic understanding of SQL and database validation. • Exposure to automation testing using Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, or similar tools. • Exposure to performance testing, load testing, or security testing. • Experience working with remote international teams. • Prior experience in application support, technical support, or customer-facing troubleshooting roles. • Basic knowledge of Git or other version control systems. • Prior startup experience or experience working in fast-moving product teams. • Experience attending or supporting product demos, conferences, client meetings, or industry events. **What We Offer** • Remote-first work environment. • Opportunity to work on desktop, mobile, and web applications. • High-growth startup environment with significant scope for career growth. • Opportunity to take ownership and help shape QA processes from an early stage. • Direct exposure to product, engineering, and business decision-making. • Collaborative work culture with ownership, flexibility, and learning opportunities. • Opportunity to attend conferences, business meetings, and industry events. **Location - Remote, India**
