Director, Applied AI
About BOI
BOI is the AI partner that Walmart, Coca-Cola, and Mastercard call when AI needs to drive growth, not just savings. We rebuild how work gets done, starting from the outcomes each team exists to deliver: agents do the work, people own the judgment, and the capacity it frees goes to growth. We bring together the unusually strong in frontier enterprise AI, then give them the ownership to make it happen. If you're looking for a comfortable place to hide, we're not it. If you want to build the future of enterprise AI with people who will make you better: welcome home.
About The Role
As a Director, Applied AI, you will own the quality and delivery of complex engagements end-to-end: rebuilding the work behind a client's outcomes and taking it live in their systems. Working closely with our Managing Director of Applied AI, you'll be the senior person across both delivery and proposal development, making sure what we sell is valuable, what we deliver is excellent, and what reaches clients brings the clarity required to enable decision making and strong execution.
You'll lead clients from C-suite to working AI capability: defining the outcomes a function exists to deliver, structuring the business case, and driving the rebuild from design through launch to measured value. Your bias is simplification: finding the shortest path to value, not adding frameworks. You've built and deployed AI products for real users, and seen their impact. You know the distance between a demo and production, and you use AI daily. We believe the best people to lead this work are those who live it themselves.
What You Will Do
Lead Delivery, from Business Case to Production
- Own end-to-end delivery of complex, multi-workstream AI programs, from problem framing through build, deployment and measured value.
- Start from outcomes: define what a team exists to deliver, map the work behind it, and design the roles where agents do the work and people own the judgment.
- Independently structure approaches, set direction, define top-down roadmaps the organization can actually execute, and define what good looks like, in production, not on slides.
- Run product discovery with client teams and end users. Find the outcome worth rebuilding, define the first release, set success metrics, and decide what to cut.
- Shape the solution architecture across models, clouds and platforms, and recommend build, buy or configure decisions you can defend to a client CTO. We're independent of every vendor, so the answer is whatever is best for the client.
- Navigate ambiguity with confidence, making decisions and keeping things moving without waiting for direction.
- Be a trusted partner to clients: shape their agenda, manage complex stakeholder dynamics, and grow the relationship outcome by outcome.
Drive Proposals & Commercial Growth
- Independently structure proposals, scope engagements, and shape commercial strategy.
- Grow accounts by identifying real expansion opportunities grounded in what you've delivered.
- Turn successful engagements into case studies, thought leadership, and reusable IP.
Pioneer AI & Develop the Team
- Champion AI-first ways of working through your own daily practice. Build your own tools and workflows.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members across multiple engagements.
- Set high standards, give direct feedback, and give credit generously.
What We Look For
We are deliberately not for everyone. We look for a specific combination of qualities:
- You bring 10+ years of experience in consulting, agency or custom solution environments serving enterprise clients. You've led complex engagements and know the difference between what sounds good in a deck and what actually works. You feel comfortable moving fast from strategy to product.
- You take ownership without waiting to be told, moving things forward, taking responsibility beyond your role, and staying resourceful in ambiguity.
- You're confident but grounded: you own mistakes, invite critique, share credit, and make the team better.
- You learn fast, think clearly, and simplify complexity.
- You're commercially sharp. You've grown accounts by shaping the right problems and structuring credible proposals, and you understand how senior buyers evaluate value, risk, and feasibility.
- You're passionate about understanding problems and building solutions with AI, and you've built your own workflows, tools, or automations.
What We Offer
- You'll build compounding skills at the frontier of AI while others are still catching up.
- The work is first of its kind: rebuilding how enterprises work from the outcomes down, with no PowerPoint recycling.
- What you design goes live in client systems within weeks, and you see the value it creates.
- We're independent of every vendor, so you work across every model and cloud, building with whatever is best and swapping it when something better ships.
- You get the freedom to prototype, experiment, and push boundaries on what's possible with AI.
- You'll help build a growing company like an owner, well beyond delivering projects.
- The team is creative, ambitious, supportive, and never boring.
- The package is competitive, with perks and regular team gatherings.
