Applied AI Engineer – AI & Automation
Summary
Builds and deploys production AI agent systems for a taxtech startup, integrating LLM-based tools into daily tax advisory workflows.
About the Role
This is a builder's role at the heart of an early-stage taxtech company that is modernising the German tax advisory industry through firm acquisitions and proprietary AI tooling. As the Applied AI Engineer, you'll design and own the agentic foundation that powers real AI features used daily by tax professionals — not prototypes, but production systems that ship.
What You'll Do
Design and build the agentic AI infrastructure that underpins the company's core product capabilities.
Ship the first production AI use cases inside tax advisory workflows, from architecture through to deployment.
Own the full AI stack end-to-end, including LLM orchestration, agent frameworks, and tool integrations.
Iterate quickly on real feedback from in-house tax advisory teams to improve and expand features.
What We're Looking For
3–10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong, fundamentals-first mindset.
Hands-on experience building real agentic systems — LLM orchestration, agent frameworks, tool use — in production environments.
Solid backend and/or frontend engineering skills; NestJS and/or React experience is a strong plus.
Preference for code-first solutions — no low-code or no-code tooling.
Demonstrated ability to ship production-ready AI features, not just experiments.
Background or genuine interest in accounting, finance, or process automation is a bonus.
Experience at a consulting, financial services, or high-growth technology firm is a useful signal.
