Applied Behaviour Research Scientist
Location: Waltham (On site role)

Are you passionate about animal behaviour science and interested in delivering research that improves the lives of pets around the world? We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Scientist to join the Applied Behaviour Team at WALTHAM, where you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality, pet-friendly research that supports innovation across the Mars Petcare portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver behavioural research studies from protocol development through to reporting outcomes.
  • Coordinate study teams and resources to ensure successful execution of research programmes.
  • Run behavioural test sessions, trials and data collection activities.
  • Develop study protocols and supporting research materials.
  • Ensure data quality and support data analysis in line with study objectives and hypotheses.
  • Present and communicate research findings to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain and manage behavioural research equipment and technologies.
  • Contribute to capability building, continuous improvement and training activities across the team.

What we're looking for:

Essential

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Animal Behaviour, Biology, Zoology, Animal Science, Wildlife Science, Psychological Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience designing and implementing research studies.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams.
  • Experience working with companion animals, particularly dogs and/or cats.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of animal behaviour measurement techniques.
  • Experience developing ethograms and using behavioural coding software.
  • Experience analysing and communicating scientific research data.
  • Familiarity with technology used to capture behavioural and wellbeing data.
