Maritime Transport is looking for a motivated Apprentice Full Stack Developer to join our development team at our Felixstowe Head Office. This is an exciting opportunity to learn, grow and contribute to the build, enhancement and deployment of business-critical software used across the organization. This role will be supplemented with an Apprenticeship in Software Development.

You will work with modern web-based applications built using C#, .NET and Angular, gaining hands-on experience in coding, testing, reviewing, maintaining and researching solutions within an agile, team-based environment.

The role

As part of your apprenticeship, you will develop the skills and experience needed to help deliver reliable, secure and well-documented software solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

Initial focus will be to learn and provide support to stakeholders, helping triage and resolve issues pre and post release for our internally developed software

Work with Business Analysts, Project Managers and stakeholders to understand requirements and help deliver effective technical solutions.

Support the maintenance of build and release pipelines.

Collaborate with a small team of developers in an agile environment.

Contribute to planning, estimating and reviewing upcoming development work.

Produce clean, testable, secure and performance-focused code.

Carry out testing to help ensure high-quality software delivery.

Deliver documented, deployable solutions for internal customers.

Continue developing your technical knowledge through self-learning and hands-on experience.

Skills you will develop

Clear and confident communication with technical and non-technical colleagues.

Understanding of SOLID principles and object-oriented programming.

Experience working in agile delivery environments, including Scrum or Kanban.

Ability to work from clearly defined specifications.

Confidence to question and challenge designs constructively based on technical merits.

Understanding of microservices and interoperability between services.

Awareness of behavior-driven, domain-driven and test-driven development approaches.

Languages, frameworks and tools

C# and .NET, including .NET Core

Git source control.

Entity Framework and SQL Server.

JavaScript, TypeScript and Angular.

Dependency injection, including Autofac.

REST APIs built to OpenAPI specifications, as both provider and consumer.

Thread-safety and immutability by design.

NuGet library packaging

Cursor

Useful to have knowledge of

Azure DevOps experience.

WebSockets over HTTP/2 or SignalR.

Cloud development, deployment or management experience, including Docker or similar technologies.

RabbitMQ or similar messaging technologies.

AutoMapper or similar mapping tools.

Sieve or similar filtering/query tools.

Framework development experience.

Bootstrap, Kendo UI or Angular experience.

Skills of interest

Full UK driving license.

Aptitude for computing technology and aware of the latest technological developments.

Ability to describe technical information in easy-to-understand terms.

Apprenticeship

You will work towards a recognized Software development qualification, such as a Level 4 Software Development apprenticeship or suitable equivalent. Dedicated study time will be provided, alongside ongoing mentoring and development support from experienced Developers.
