Apprentice - HR (Employee Engagement)

Open 20d

Summary

Apprentice in HR supports employee engagement initiatives, rewards programs, and HR operations, using tools like Excel and Power BI in a healthcare data analytics company.

People eXperience at Innovaccer

The People eXperience (Px) team builds the organizational infrastructure that makes Innovaccer work as a company. From AI-assisted hiring and people analytics to designing onboarding for roles that did not exist two years ago, Px owns the systems that keep an AI-native organization staffed, aligned, engaged and moving forward. That work looks different from standard People roles: leaner teams, higher stakes per person, and a constant need to design for an organization that is actively being rebuilt around intelligent systems. If you want to build people centric infrastructure that matches the pace of the company, this is the team.

About this role

You know that feeling when a team event works well? People show up, they stay till the end and someone reaches out after expressing what a good time they had. That does not happen by accident. Someone planned it, chased multiple people, got approvals, addressed last minute issues and created a fun event that seemed easy and free of any hurdles. That someone is you, and this is the role.

As an Apprentice of Employee Engagement, you will be a part of the Px Employer Branding team and will run the calendar of engagement activities for the company and individual departments. From the first idea to the last thank-you message.

You will work closely with the Employer Branding team and with people across the company. Your days will involve planning, troubleshooting something that needs changes and sometimes being the person on the mic keeping a room full of people energized.

Requirements

What you will actually do

  • Look at what's coming up on the calendar, build a plan and execute for it
  • Talk to vendors, finance, and other teams to get an event over the finish line
  • Write the message that goes out before an event, and the one that goes out after
  • Keep an eye on what's working in engagement right now, and bring in new ideas
  • Understand who the event is for, and what it's meant to do for them
  • Break a big idea into smaller jobs, and know who's doing what
  • Be the one person people can go to when they have a question about an event
  • Track how many people showed up, opened the email, clicked the link
  • Keep a simple tracker so no one has to ask "how did that go?"
  • Put together a short report for leadership on what happened and why it mattered

What good looks like

The goal post won’t keep moving and we know saying being detail oriented and proactive is not clear. Here’s what “good” looks like:

  • An event where the invite says 3 pm, and at 2:55 you're already standing near the door with a plan for what happens if the projector doesn't turn on vs trying to get people to the event at 3:20 pm.
  • A good-enough idea that's live, being tried out, and getting better with every round vs a great idea that either never leaves a doc or dies after the first time.
  • Pitching an idea, hearing "not right now," and asking "what would make this a yes?" vs Pitching an idea, hearing "not right now," and taking it personally.
  • A post event report that tells us what people actually felt, and what we'd do differently next time vs a post event report that tells us just headcount.

Your first 90 days

Days 1–30: You meet the people you'll be working with. You shadow the person currently running engagement activities. You ask a lot of questions. You learn how the budget for events actually works. You join the Ministry of Fun, our in-house engagement club, as an active member.

Days 31–60: You run a small event on your own, start to finish, including the survey after. You look at the current calendar and suggest what could be better, with or without more budget. You write a summary of an event for the branding team to use on social media. You become the new head of the Ministry of Fun.

Days 61–90: You manage a full department-level event on your own. You write the survey analysis and share it internally. You work with Branding on how the event gets talked about outside the company. You run Ministry of Fun sessions and build next year's calendar.

Who this is for

If you’ve made it this far, you are probably the right person for this role, but here’s to know for sure.

  • You like making plans, and you like when plans actually happen
  • You can spot a problem before it happens, and you already have a backup ready
  • You're fine being the one talking to a room full of people
  • You can talk to almost anyone and get them a little excited about what you're doing
  • You can juggle a few things at once, and you know when to stop and re-sort your list
  • You're not chasing perfect. You're chasing "let's find a faster way to do this"
  • You're comfortable using AI to move faster, but you know the judgment still has to be yours

What you bring to the table

  • A graduate or postgraduate degree, in any stream. We're not looking for an HR degree specifically.
  • Comfort with basic spreadsheets. You don't need to know formulas by heart. You need to be able to keep a tracker that makes sense to someone else, not just you.
  • Clear writing. If you can write a message that a busy person reads in under sixty seconds and knows exactly what to do next, you're most of the way there.
  • Comfort talking to strangers. Vendors, other teams, senior leaders. You'll be on calls and in rooms with all of them, sometimes in the same week.
  • Some experience organizing something, even if it wasn't "official." A college fest, a farewell, a fundraiser. That counts.
  • Basic comfort with AI tools. You'll use them to draft, plan, and think faster. What you bring on top of that is judgment, taste, and knowing when the AI got it wrong.
  • Experience with tools like Canva.
