Apprentice Service Technician (Level 1–4) – Volvo Cars North Vancouver

Jim Pattison Volvo Cars North Vancouver is looking for a skilled and motivated Level 1 to Level 4 Apprentice Service Technician to join our Service Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an apprentice who is looking to further develop their technical skills while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a professional dealership environment.
Working alongside experienced Journeyperson and senior technicians, you will be responsible for performing vehicle maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs while following Volvo and dealership standards. You’ll have the opportunity to expand your knowledge, take on more advanced work, and continue progressing toward becoming a fully certified technician.
As a Volvo Apprentice Technician, you’ll take pride in delivering quality workmanship, working safely and efficiently, and contributing to an exceptional customer experience through dependable vehicle service.

Pay Range: $24.00 to $38.00 per hour, depending on the level of apprenticeship, hours completed, and experience.
This role reports to the Service Manager of the dealership.

A Day in the Life

Diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles in accordance with manufacturer and dealership standards
Perform detailed vehicle inspections and accurately document findings, measurements, and required repairs
Diagnose mechanical and electrical concerns and recommend appropriate repair solutions
Complete maintenance services and repairs with a strong focus on quality, efficiency, and safety
Work closely with Service Advisors to communicate repair findings, timelines, and additional service recommendations
Conduct road tests and pre-delivery inspections to ensure vehicles meet dealership and manufacturer standards
Collaborate with the Parts Department to obtain required parts and properly manage warranty labeling
Assist and support fellow technicians as needed to maintain an efficient and productive shop
Continue developing technical knowledge through hands-on experience and manufacturer-led training
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Follow all company policies, procedures, and workplace safety standards
Maintain confidentiality when handling company and customer information
Contribute to a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment

What We’re Looking For

Currently enrolled in or have successfully completed Level 1 or Level 4 of the Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship program in British Columbia
Previous automotive shop or dealership experience is considered an asset
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability and desire to continue developing technical skills
Valid BC Driver’s License with a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
Ability to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles is an asset
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality workmanship
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Reliable, punctual, and dependable
Comfortable working in a fast-paced automotive service environment
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 60 pounds and standing for extended periods
Strong mobility, dexterity, and awareness when working around vehicles, hoists, tools, and shop equipment

Working Conditions:

Indoor automotive shop environment with multiple service bays
Exposure to noise from engines, power tools, and air tools
Regular exposure to vehicle exhaust, dust, cleaning products, and other shop materials
Work performed around moving vehicles, hoists, tools, and heavy equipment
Shop temperatures may vary depending on the season and ventilation conditions
