Aquatics Lifeguard

Our Aquatics team is looking for dynamic individuals who will diligently monitor our Water Oasis play areas and perform all duties according to the standards set forth in the International Lifeguard Training Program. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Tests equipment prior to opening the ride

· Performs a “first” ride on slides to ensure proper operation

· Maintains order of guests waiting to ride and checks/enforces all ride restrictions and recommendations

· Records ride capacity

· Observes and assists with loading and unloading of guests safely in and out of rides

· Communicates safety regulations with guests

· Assists in evacuation of guests from rides, as needed

· Monitors ride continuously for malfunction or safety concerns and communicates to appropriate personnel

· Performs all duties to satisfactorily to meet Ellis and associates (NASCO), including CPR, First Aid, swimming rescues and spinal injury management

· Properly uses and stores rescue equipment

· Recognizes injuries, such as head injuries, and provides necessary treatment

· Works in conjunction with Emergency Medical Technicians

· Delivers CPR, AR, spinal immobilization and other first-aid procedures, as needed

· Monitors and ensures the safety of guests and co-workers

· Monitors and enforces water park and lifeguard rules

· Responds to and takes appropriate action to resolve concerns and complaints from park guests

· Keeps supervisor/manager informed of situations related to water park operation

· Performs all duties in a safe/responsible manner

· Performs other duties as assigned

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

· Must be at least 16 years of age

· Must have reliable transportation to get to work

· Must have full availability including weekends and holidays

· Must have good communication skills

· Must be able to work in all weather conditions

· Must be able to successfully complete 14-16 hours of training

· Ability to swim a distance of 50 yards (150 ft.) in a comfortable position without resting, using a front stroke

· Ability to retrieve a 10 lb. diving brick from 5 ft. of water or less and carry it to the pool deck. Wading in the pool is allowed to pick of the 10 lb. brick

· Must pass a test, which includes swimming 50 yards, passing a written test with 80% mastery, and a practical test (rescue, CPR/AR, etc.)

Must have the following abilities to satisfactorily perform the Essential Job Functions:

· Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, grip, grasp and hold objects weighing at least 50 pounds

· Ability to swim, stand, walk, sit, bend, and reach above shoulders for a moderate period of time

· Ability to operate a dolly

· Ability to follow written and oral instruction

· Ability to perform basic math functions

· Ability to problem solve with minimal supervision

· Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines

· Ability to work with fumes, odors, cleaning supplies, and gasses from pool chemicals and handle prolonged exposure to sun radiation and blood born pathogens

· Ability to work in adverse weather conditions including heat, rain, and cold
