Summary

Supervises pool safety, monitors patrons, performs water testing, and mentors lifeguards at a YMCA facility in Evansville.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position is responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the patrons in the pool area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth
  • Complete required abuse risk management training
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities & supervising youth
  • Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations
  • Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements
  • All duties of Lifeguard/Instructor
  • Train and mentor Lifeguards/Instructors
  • Work under direction of Full-time aquatic staff to assist in running monthly in-services
  • Able to perform basic admin duties and be staff lead (on call for missed shifts) when Aquatic Director is out of town, which will be communicated in advance
  • Run weekly safety checks for equipment and facility
  • Run Red Ball/Zone evaluation drills
  • Troubleshoot minor chemical issues and complete water testing as needed
  • Evaluate swim instructor readiness based on rubric
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Work an average of 24-28 hours per week, with a minimum of 20 hours per week

  • The employee must be able to respond quickly to any emergency situation and be willing to administer any first aid or care under the scope of their training.
