Arborist
Summary
Oversee tree health, safety, and maintenance for urban landscapes in Singapore, performing inspections, risk assessments, and supervising pruning or removal crews.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct tree inspections and assess tree health, structure, defects, pests, and diseases.
- Carry out tree risk assessments and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
- Plan and supervise tree pruning, crown reduction, tree removal, transplanting, and other arboricultural works.
- Ensure all tree works comply with Singapore standards, contract specifications, and the requirements of National Parks Board (NParks).
- Supervise tree-climbing crews, crane-assisted tree removal operations, and ground support teams.
- Prepare tree inspection reports, risk assessment reports, and maintenance records.
- Investigate tree failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor contractors' work quality and ensure compliance with workplace safety requirements.
- Identify tree species, pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies, and recommend appropriate treatments.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, government agencies, and stakeholders on tree-related matters.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of arboricultural equipment and tools.
- Conduct site inspections and respond to emergency tree incidents following storms or accidents.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Arboriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Landscape Management, or a related field.
- Recognised arborist certification (e.g. Certified Arborist or equivalent recognised in Singapore).
- Good knowledge of tree biology, pruning standards, tree risk assessment, and plant health care.
- Familiarity with workplace safety regulations, including Work at Height requirements.
- Ability to prepare technical reports and communicate effectively.
- Class 3 driving licence is an advantage.
Preferred Experience
- 2–5 years of arboriculture or tree management experience.
- Experience with tree inspection, tree climbing, and supervising arboricultural works.
- Knowledge of local tree species and tropical tree management.
- Experience working on government or commercial landscape contracts is advantageous.
