Architect
Elastic Government Solutions, LLC, a subsidiary of Elastic, the Search AI Company, empowers organizations to harness the power of their data in real time, at scale, driving business innovation and success. Elastic is expanding its Federal Consulting Team to support public sector customers in O’Fallon, IL (reporting to Scott AFB). This role requires an active U.S. Federal security clearance: minimum Secret.
As a Consulting Architect at Elastic, you will work closely with customers to deliver Elastic solutions and provide expertise on the Elastic Stack. You will act as a trusted technical advisor, guiding strategy, architecture design, and capacity planning in mission-critical environments. The ideal candidate is technically adept, proactive about self-improvement, and skilled in building strong customer relationships.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Plan, lead, and oversee Elastic consulting engagements to maximize customer value from Elastic products.
- Architect, implement, and configure Elastic solutions in mission-critical environments, including airgapped and classified deployments, with a focus on platform architecture, solution design, and capacity planning.
- Deploy and manage ECK (Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes) in airgapped RKE2 environments, including full stack configuration of Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Elastic Agent, Fleet Server, EPR, EAR, and Beats (Metricbeat and Filebeat).
- Manage Helm Chart-based deployments and leverage GitOps (FluxCD) to deploy and maintain stack YAML configurations.
- Design and enforce ILM policies, manage index lifecycle across environments, and ensure data retention aligns with customer requirements.
- Implement and maintain External Secrets Operator for secrets management within Kubernetes environments.
- Apply STIG best practices across Elastic deployments to meet security and compliance requirements.
- Fine-tune and customize observability solutions spanning metrics and security use cases.
- Unify data under the ECS schema, leading ECS standardization and ingest pipeline design to ensure consistent, high-quality data across customer environments.
- Deploy and manage infrastructure on AWS using Terraform, including EC2 instances, EBS CSI, SQS, S3 bucket ingestion, and native AWS integrations.
- Automate deployment and configuration of Elastic Agents using Ansible, supporting customer-driven automation initiatives.
- Build strong relationships as a customer advocate, ensuring excellent communication and collaboration.
- Develop and present demos and proof-of-concepts that showcase the value of the Elastic Stack.
- Conduct data modeling, query development, optimization, and cluster tuning for scalable, high-performance search and analytics.
- Collaborate with other consultants to solve complex technical challenges in a team-oriented environment.
- Review and approve technical consulting reports that articulate project outcomes and recommendations.
- Mentor and coach consultants through enablement programs, shadowing, and ongoing training.
- Participate in technical interviews to assess and onboard new consultants.
What You Bring Along:
- Active U.S. Federal security clearance (minimum Secret).
- At least 3 years of experience as a consultant or technical instructor in client-facing engagements.
- Proven ability to work with customers to capture requirements, plan, and deliver technical solutions aligned with business needs.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Systems Engineer/Administrator, Network Engineer/Administrator, Cloud Engineer/Administrator, or similar role.
- Proficiency in designing, implementing, and optimizing solutions with Elasticsearch or similar distributed data technologies.
- Hands-on experience with ECK deployments in airgapped RKE2 environments, including full stack configuration across core ECK components (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Elastic Agent, Fleet Server, EPR, EAR, Metricbeat, Filebeat).
- Experience deploying via Helm Charts and managing infrastructure-as-code using GitOps practices (FluxCD).
- Proficiency with Terraform for AWS infrastructure deployment, including EC2, EBS CSI, SQS, and S3 integrations.
- Experience using Ansible to automate Elastic Agent deployment, configuration, and customer automation workflows.
- Working knowledge of ILM policy design and index lifecycle management.
- Experience implementing External Secrets Operator and applying STIG best practices in Kubernetes environments.
- Demonstrated experience with ECS standardization, ingest pipeline development, and observability tuning across metrics and security domains.
- Strong understanding of Linux, Unix, and Windows operating systems, including command-line interfaces.
- Familiarity with information retrieval and analytics domains.
- Programming experience with at least one language (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript, Ruby).
- Experience with databases, including SQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, MongoDB, or similar NoSQL technologies.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new Elastic technologies.
Bonus Points:
- Experience as a technical instructor or public speaker on enterprise infrastructure software topics for technical audiences.
- Certifications or expertise in technologies like Ansible, GitHub, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, Redis, or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with network data, cybersecurity data, and system logs.
- Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Elastic certifications: Elastic Certified Engineer, Elastic Certified Analyst, Elastic Certified Observability Engineer.
Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary. This role does not have a variable compensation component.
The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below. In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below.
These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.
An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program. The typical starting salary range for this role is:
$160,000 - $240,000 USD
