Architect – Urban Design

Summary

Designs urban spaces, master plans, and public realms using Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp while coordinating with architects, engineers, and planners.

The Architect II – Urban Design role supports the planning, design, and delivery of urban design, architecture, public realm, and master planning projects. This role contributes to the development of urban concepts, technical documentation, and multidisciplinary coordination under the guidance of senior staff, while strengthening expertise in urban environments, placemaking, mobility, sustainability, and integrated design.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the planning, design, and documentation of urban design, architectural, public realm, and master planning projects.
  • Assist in developing urban design packages, including master plans, streetscape concepts, public spaces, mobility strategies, mixed-use developments, and urban design guidelines aligned with project objectives.
  • Prepare and revise drawings, reports, presentations, specifications, and technical documentation under senior supervision.
  • Coordinate with architecture, landscape architecture, transportation, engineering, planning, and other disciplines to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Support site analysis, urban research, spatial analysis, and preparation of diagrams to inform design decisions.
  • Use design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, BIM platforms, and GIS to support design development, visualization, and technical documentation.
  • Contribute to quality reviews and technical coordination to ensure project deliverables meet company standards and client expectations.
  • Assist senior team members with research, urban analysis, design coordination, preparation of design guidelines, and development of best practices.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Professional degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in urban design, architecture, master planning, public realm, or related design fields.
  • Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Proficiency in English (B2-C1 level required).
  • Understanding of urban design principles, placemaking, public realm, mobility, sustainability, and climate-responsive design.
  • Ability to prepare, review, and coordinate drawings, reports, presentations, specifications, and technical documentation with accuracy and attention to quality standards.
  • Familiarity with urban analysis methodologies, GIS-based workflows, and data-informed design approaches is considered an asset.

Preferred requirements

  • Experience working on urban development, mixed-use, transit-oriented development, infrastructure, or master planning projects is preferred.
  • Exposure to large-scale developments and international projects is considered a plus.
  • International project experience is a plus
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Cloud, and related BIM/design tools. Working knowledge of GIS (or QGIS) is preferred.
  • Experience with visualization tools such as Enscape, Lumion, Twinmotion, or similar software is considered a plus.
  • Candidates must submit a resume and portfolio including relevant landscape, urban design, or architectural project experience.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
