Architectural Drafter

As an Architectural Drafter at CSHQA, you will be responsible for producing and coordinating project design and/or construction documents of projects, and will also assist project teams and other staff members as directed.

This position requires knowledge of the design and construction process, understanding of project work plans, schedules, staffing and budgets, as well as strong skills in prioritization, efficiency and the continuous improvement of services and processes. You should be adept at effectively communicating and successfully collaborating with a broad range of internal and external individuals or representatives.

Essential Functions

Ability to create documents in AutoCAD/Revit to construct a building or remodel of a building.
Ability to read and understand basic civil, structural, and MEP plans, symbology, and basic sheet notes under the guidance of the Project Manager/Architect.
Ability to review work and provide direction to a team on corrective actions prior to distribution.
Ability to take written and verbal direction in the development of architectural documents through redlines, markups, sketches, and review of existing information to develop DDs, CDs, details, exhibits, and related documents.
Ability to create and edit supporting architectural documents, such as specifications, spreadsheets, transmittals, reports, and schedules.
Ability to interact with engineering consultants, including Civil, MEP, and Structural disciplines.
Ability to learn how to survey existing conditions by taking accurate and legible field dimensions, measurements, and notes.
Ability to learn how to conduct jobsite observations and perform follow-up communication and coordination during Construction Administration.
Willingness to work on a variety of building typologies and architectural styles.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment while coordinating and maintaining positive working relationships with other design professionals.
Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with strong listening abilities and follow-through.
Excellent graphic, communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.

1-3 years’ experience in the production of AutoCAD and Revit drawings; architectural projects preferred.
College level schooling in Drafting, Design, and Architecture or Graduate of a 2-year architectural design and technology or drafting program.
AutoCAD and/or Revit skills.
Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications
Drafting experience with an architectural firm.
Basic skills with Bluebeam PDF editing application.
Certificate from a recognized Autodesk online Revit training module.
