Area Operations Manager

The Area Operations Manager (AOM) is responsible for Emergency Ambulance Service (EAS) delivery covering Coastal Otago and is a senior leadership role of the Southland Otago District Leadership Team (DLT). The key focus is strategic oversight of EAS, ownership of key stakeholder relationships, and management of people leaders in EAS. This role aligns and delivers to the National Ambulance Strategy.

The AOM role includes limited personal use of a marked, response capable vehicle

This is a permanent full-time opportunity based in Dunedin.

We are looking for an experienced manager, with proven ability to lead leaders and drive operational excellence, ensuring the team deliver the best possible outcome for patients. Your focus will be on operational detail and delivering on the strategy. Along with proven experience at a tactical management level, there is a requirement for strong people leadership skills, relationship management, developing partnerships both internal and external, understanding of finances and budgets, understanding and analysing data, supported by an understanding of clinical matters and in-depth knowledge of the challenges facing health and social care.

We are looking for a leader with innovative thinking and ability, with the skills and experience to turn ideas into effective and achievable operational and performance plans. Ideally you have experience managing volunteers and you are able to build and maintain relationships with the communities we serve, including iwi, hapū and whānau. In addition, a leader who supports Hato Hone St John's commitments under Te Tiriti o Waitangi and place emphasis on improving Māori health equity.
