POSITIONS PURPOSE
Concordia University Texas is seeking two qualified candidates to join our Art Adjunct Faculty Pool for part-time teaching opportunities at our main Austin location.
Selected candidates will be hired and onboarded as adjunct faculty members, allowing the university to maintain a pool of qualified, prepared instructors who are available to provide substitute instruction or teach courses as opportunities arise.
Our art courses nurture a wide array of conceptual approaches to contemporary art, including both creation and curating. Students explore traditional and innovative techniques, experimental art projects, and theories of art from the Renaissance to the 21st century. Courses may include Art Theory, Painting, Color, and other topics in studio art and art appreciation.
Candidates with expertise in one or more areas of art are encouraged to apply. Appointment to the adjunct faculty pool does not guarantee a teaching assignment or a minimum number of teaching hours. Assignments will be offered based on departmental needs, course availability, faculty qualifications, and individual availability.
ABOUT THE COURSES
Art courses at Concordia University Texas encourage students to explore visual expression, creative processes, and the historical and cultural significance of art. Students engage with a broad range of artistic approaches, from traditional techniques to contemporary experimentation and conceptual practices.
Potential teaching areas include:
- Art Theory and History: Examination of artistic movements, cultural contexts, critical perspectives, and theories of art from the Renaissance through the 21st century.
- Painting: Exploration of painting techniques, materials, composition, creative expression, and artistic development.
- Color: Study of color theory, relationships, perception, and the application of color in visual composition and artistic practice.
- Additional Art Courses: Other studio-based, theoretical, or interdisciplinary art courses offered according to departmental needs.
Faculty selected for the adjunct pool will complete the university’s hiring and onboarding requirements in advance of potential teaching assignments. This preparation allows instructors to step into classroom responsibilities when a need arises.
Teaching opportunities may include individual class sessions, temporary coverage, or full-semester course assignments. Course availability will vary, and appointment to the pool does not guarantee an assignment.
