Arts Community Lawyer, ARH Arts Law Centre

Open 23d

About the Role

The ARH Arts Law Centre—a collaboration between Pro Bono SG and the National Arts Council (NAC)—exists to help artists navigate contracts, IP, and disputes with confidence. As the professional face of this first-of-its-kind pilot (running 2026–2028), you are the person Singapore's creative practitioners will turn to when the law feels daunting. You will translate legal complexities into practical guidance, run legal clinics, design educational resources, and lead a specialist network of volunteer lawyers to support the arts ecosystem.

Your First Year Might Look Like…

  • Setting up the Centre's legal clinics and seeing your first artists through to real outcomes.
  • Building a panel of volunteer lawyers who are genuinely excited to give back to the arts.
  • Designing legal literacy resources that become go-to references across the sector.
  • Identifying the two or three legal issues that trip artists up most often — and doing something about them.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide legal consultations and practical guidance to arts practitioners on contracts, intellectual property, licensing, freelance engagements, and employment matters.
  • Design and deliver accessible legal literacy talks, workshops, plain-language guides, and template contracts tailored to the arts community.
  • Build, recruit, and mentor a panel of volunteer lawyers with expertise relevant to the creative industries to support clinics and accept referrals.
  • Serve as the Centre's legal representative, maintaining strong partnerships with NAC, arts companies, and creative collectives.
  • Monitor recurring legal trends affecting freelancers and arts organizations, conducting research to support advocacy and sector capability building.
  • Collaborate with the Programme Coordinator to refine the Centre's operational procedures, service protocols, and practice guidelines.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Admission as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore.
  • At least 5 years of post-qualification experience, ideally with exposure to commercial, IP, employment, contract, media, or entertainment law.
  • A demonstrated commitment to pro bono work and a genuine interest in the working realities of creative practitioners.
  • A gift for translating complex legal concepts into practical, accessible guidance for non-legal audiences.
  • Innovative, adaptable, and comfortable designing legal solutions in a dynamic, evolving programme environment.

Why Join Us

This is a rare chance to build and shape a new, meaningful model of legal support rather than taking a seat in an existing machine. Join a warm, mission-driven team and enjoy the deep satisfaction of helping artists safeguard their commercial interests and build careers that last.
