POSITION SUMMARY

The RCIS will scrub and perform specialized procedures following department/facility policies and procedures as needed. Inventory duties to include oversight of inventory management program, equipment and supply ordering, collaboration with vendors and physicians to ensure cost-effectiveness is maintained.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Performs/scrubs diagnostic and/or interventional procedures.
  2. Displays competency with injecting contrast media for associated procedures.
  3. Assists with acquiring and opening product during procedure based on physician needs and orders.
  4. Maintains safe working environment. Assists team with patient turnover and room cleaning in between procedures.
  5. Responsible for contributing to and maintaining computerized inventory management (SIS, Envi).
  6. Cross-trained and competent to act as inventory specialist and able to assist staff in supply chain management, organization, and utilization.
  7. Demonstrates professional behavior and conduct in all interactions. Fosters and takes accountability for teamwork.
  8. Holds accountability for ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities including confidentiality of all work and patient information.
  9. Adequately informs and educates the patient/families regarding exams to be performed.
  10. Maintains the ability to use/maintain equipment appropriately (IVUS/FFR/IFR, atherectomy/thrombectomy devices). Demonstrates the ability to trouble-shoot and notify appropriate resources accordingly for equipment maintenance.
  11. Participates in quality improvement regarding patient safety and care.
  12. Interacts with physicians, patients, families, and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Demonstrates professional behavior and conduct in all interactions.
