POSITION SUMMARY
This position assists the Clinical Manager RN in the daily clinical operations of Operating Room nursing in accordance with established Federal, State, and accreditation standards and ASC policies and procedures. This position utilizes special knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills in order provide appropriate care to meet the physical and developmental needs of the assigned patient in accordance with professional nursing practice. This position provides direct patient care in coordination with physicians and associated staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Cares for the patient undergoing surgical procedures and ensures appropriate pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative, nursing care is provided in the ASC setting. Contributes to identified patient population through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care.
- Performs proper patient identification in accordance with policies/protocols and verifies correct procedure, completeness of patient charts, and associated documents. Communicates accordingly with ASC personnel to provide continuity of care.
- Supervises and directs patient care in a single operating/procedure room.
- Maintains organization of surgical center including but not limited to equipment, supplies and personnel to ensure efficient procedural flow.
- Transports patients to the operating/procedure room observing policies and procedures, safety requirements and patient needs.
- Responsible for conscious sedation administration and hemodynamic monitoring according to ASC policies and procedures. Manages and documents controlled substance inventory.
- Documents patient care records and other forms accurately following policies and procedures.
- Performs pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative assessments and cares for the patient including pain management, associated interventions, and associated documentation.
- Demonstrates ability to provide clinical care instructions to patients and caregivers accordingly.
