Assembly Manager

The Role
We are looking for an experienced Assembly Manager to take overall responsibility for the leadership, performance and effectiveness of our assembly operations across multiple production areas. Working closely with the Production Director and wider operational teams, you will coordinate people, resources, materials and production activity to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, on time and to the required quality standards. You will lead and develop a skilled, multi-skilled workforce, creating a culture of accountability, teamwork, quality and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day to day assembly operations across multiple production areas.
- Plan and coordinate production activity to achieve delivery, quality and productivity targets.
- Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks and implement effective solutions to maintain production flow.
- Ensure assembly processes, SOPs, inspection requirements and health & safety standards are consistently followed.
- Drive improvements in first time accuracy, productivity, rework and on time delivery.
- Work closely with Quality to resolve non-conformances and customer issues promptly.
- Manage stock, consumables, fittings, materials and subcontracted parts to ensure production is not disrupted.
- Lead, motivate and develop a multi-skilled assembly team, including performance management, training, absence and resource planning.
- Monitor and report on key production KPIs and use data to drive continuous improvement.
- Champion Lean Manufacturing, 5S and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, Operations and other departments to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Represent the Assembly function in production, quality and operational meetings.
About You
We are looking for an experienced manufacturing professional who can demonstrate:
- 5–10 years' experience in production or assembly management within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced production environment.
- Strong organisational and problem solving skills.
- Experience working with ERP systems and digital production tracking tools.
- A proactive approach to improving processes, productivity and quality.
- The ability to communicate effectively across production, quality and management teams.
- A positive attitude towards innovation, change and continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related discipline.
- Experience in process analysis, workflow management and performance reporting.
- Lean Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement qualification.
- Knowledge of modern manufacturing technologies.
