Assembly Technician

We are looking for an experienced Fiber Optic / Laser Assembly Technician to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, testing, and troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, optoelectronic, and laser assembly systems in accordance with engineering specifications and quality standards.

The role requires the ability to read technical drawings and schematics, use precision tools and instruments, and work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure accurate and efficient assembly of products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, test, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, optoelectronic, and laser assembly systems.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Perform Fiber Loop Assembly (FLA) manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Carry out fiber bonding, sealing, and curing processes using approved materials and procedures.
  • Perform optical fiber routing, looping, and cable management according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strip, clean, cleave, and handle delicate optical fibers using appropriate tools and procedures.
  • Perform fiber collimation and optical alignment to meet product performance requirements.
  • Perform fiber polishing and end-face inspection using microscopes and optical inspection equipment.
  • Use precision tools, measuring instruments, and assembly equipment to ensure product quality and accuracy.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of assemblies and identify defects or process issues.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to resolve assembly and process-related issues.
  • Follow established safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
  • Support continuous improvement activities related to assembly processes, quality, and productivity.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in a manufacturing, production, or process-driven environment.
  • Hands-on experience in Fiber Loop Assembly (FLA) manufacturing and assembly is preferred.
  • Experience in fiber bonding, sealing, and curing processes.
  • Experience with optical fiber routing, looping, and cable management.
  • Practical knowledge of fiber stripping, cleaning, cleaving, and handling.
  • Experience in fiber collimation and optical alignment.
  • Experience with fiber polishing and end-face inspection using microscopes or optical inspection equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to work with delicate components and precision equipment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and production requirements.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in fiber optics, photonics, optoelectronics, laser, or precision assembly.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and quality control procedures.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environment, where applicable.
