Position Summary

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Public Health on Linfield’s McMinnville campus, with additional teaching responsibilities in Health and Human Performance as determined by department chairs.

In addition to teaching, the faculty member will advise and mentor students, maintain an active program of scholarly or professional development, participate in departmental and university service, and contribute to an inclusive, collaborative, and student-centered academic environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in Public Health and, as assigned, Health and Human Performance.
• Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered learning experiences.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate students in their academic and professional development.
• Maintain an active program of scholarly and/or professional achievement appropriate to a tenure-track appointment.
• Participate in departmental, university, and professional service.
• Collaborate effectively with faculty and colleagues across academic programs.
• Foster an inclusive learning environment that supports students from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must demonstrate the following:

• Doctorate in Public Health or a closely related field.
• College- or university-level teaching experience in Public Health and/or Health Education.
• Evidence of excellence in teaching.
• Demonstrated potential for success in scholarly or professional achievement and departmental and university service.
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues and students in a small university environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with one or more of the following qualifications are especially encouraged to apply:

• Demonstrated experience working effectively with undergraduate students both inside and outside the classroom.
• Teaching or professional expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Nutrition
  • Epidemiology
  • Environmental Health
  • Sexual Health
  • Public Health Programming and Evaluation
• Evidence of student-centered and high-impact teaching and learning practices.
• Experience working with diverse communities and populations.
• Professional experience in public health practice, including experience mentoring teams or units.
• Current relevant professional credentials, such as Registered Dietitian (RD), Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), and/or Certified in Public Health (CPH).
• Experience with academic advising and student mentoring.
