The NMHU Media Arts & Technology Department invites applications for a full-time Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor of Media Arts beginning August 10, 2026. We seek faculty with expertise in one of our main concentrations: graphic design, video/audio production, or photography, who work at the intersection of creative production, cultural awareness, and emerging technologies. This in-person position is located at the McCaffrey Historic Trolley Building on the NMHU main campus in Las Vegas, New Mexico.

Candidates whose teaching focuses on current digital media practices within their area of specialization are invited to apply. A successful candidate situates their practice within theoretical and cultural approaches to teaching and research. Applicants should be well versed in the foundations of a media arts BA/BFA and MFA program, and able to teach both introductory undergraduate and graduate courses in a diverse interdisciplinary program.

This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position beginning August 2026. The faculty member will play a role in curriculum development and implementation, preparing media arts students to navigate the rapidly evolving media and design landscape.

The review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position are filled. Submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, a link to a creative portfolio of at least 5 media projects for which the applicant served in a key creative capacity (i.e. creative director, designer, producer). Incomplete or applications will not be reviewed.

For evidence of teaching effectiveness, include contact information for three professional references and unofficial graduate transcripts. Candidates should describe in their cover letter how their teaching will support the university’s commitment to NMHU’s mission and vison, as well as their ability to work effectively with students across a wide range of identities and backgrounds.

Candidate must be comfortable working in-person classroom setting, with the equipment (photo/video/printing/screen-based) required to do this position effectively.
