Assistant Athletic Trainer
Summary
Provides medical care, injury prevention, and event coverage for college athletes, maintaining health records and collaborating with coaches and healthcare providers.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for aiding the head athletic trainer with all operations of the athletic training facility with a specific focus on prevention and care of athletic injuries and maintaining all athletic health records. This position will also work in collaboration with the head athletic trainer to assist in the coverage of all home and select away athletic events including competitions and practices.

- Provide evidence-based, best practice medical care to student-athletes
- Recognize and evaluate athletic injuries and have the ability to provide acute care of injuries
- Collaborate with head athletic trainer, strength and conditioning coach and head coaches to aid in the prevention of athletic injuries
- Work with the athletic training staff to provide medical coverage of athletic practices and events
- Communicate with coaching staff about physical status of their student athletes
- Travel with athletic teams as requested by the head athletic trainer
- Work with athletes and other healthcare providers in the rehabilitation of athletic injuries
- Assist in pre participation physical examinations
- Maintain accurate medical records including but not limited to injury status reports, treatment records, insurance claims, and annual pre-season participation paperwork
- Contribute to team effort by welcoming new and different work requirements and exploring new opportunities to enhance the services provided to the athletic department and student athletes
