Summary

Processes patient billing in a hospital, entering charges, verifying accuracy, generating invoices, and coordinating with departments to ensure timely revenue collection.

Job Description:

  • Enter all charges related to patient treatment accurately into the Hospital Information System.
  • Coordinate with clinical and support departments to ensure all services and charges are captured before patient discharge.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of inpatient billing prior to bill finalisation.
  • Generate patient bills and ensure the correct debtor codes and bill types are assigned.
  • Process and submit e-Invoices in accordance with Group e-Invoicing procedures.
  • Ensure all electronic billing (e-Billing) submissions are completed accurately and submitted to the respective payors within the required timelines.
  • Respond to billing and charge-related enquiries from patients, insurance companies, and corporate clients in a professional and timely manner.
  • Verify and reconfirm all Guarantee Letters (GL), including validity periods, coverage limits, and approved benefits before bill finalisation.
  • Arrange deferred payment agreements for eligible patients following approval from authorised personnel.
  • Obtain approval in accordance with the Limit of Authority (LOA) when patients are discharged before the Final Guarantee Letter (FGL) is issued.
  • Prepare and process bill adjustments, credit notes, and debit notes in accordance with hospital policies and approval procedures.
  • Submit completed inpatient bills to the Billing Supervisor daily and hand over bills requiring further review to the Case Review Department.
  • Ensure timely bill completion and submission to support efficient revenue collection and minimise outstanding receivables.
  • Maintain accurate billing documentation and records in compliance with hospital policies and audit requirements.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by Management.
  • Comply with all hospital policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs),Group guidelines, and instructions issued by the organisation and Head of Service

Requirements:

Education:

  • Minimum SPM or Diploma

Knowledge and Experiences:

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in hospitality environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Excellent in both written and verbal (Bahasa Malaysia/English)
  • PC Literate

Special skills required

  • A self-starter with initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Effectively interacts at all levels.
  • Works beyond normal hours in support of projects or other assignments.
  • High level of integrity, honest, trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality.
