JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting in the coordination and oversight of broiler operations to ensure quality product and achievement of company goals. Serves as a company representative to contract growers by monitoring house conditions, bird welfare, and production performance. Provides technical assistance and recommendations to improve flock performance, operational efficiency, and compliance with company standards while supporting the Broiler Manager in daily production activities.
DAILY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist in coordinating day-to-day broiler production operations and serve as a liaison between the Company and contract growers, providing technical guidance on company standards, biosecurity, animal welfare, and best management practices.
2. Conduct regular farm visits to monitor flock health, welfare, environmental conditions, and compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Communicate concerns and recommend corrective actions as needed.
3. Assist with the implementation and monitoring of health, welfare, and biosecurity programs to ensure compliance with company standards.
4. Assist with scheduling and coordination of flock placements, catching, and other live production activities to meet operational goals.
5. Maintain effective communication with growers, contractors, and management regarding production performance, operational issues, and department objectives.
6. Monitor adherence to company programs and procedures by growers and contractors, reporting any concerns regarding animal welfare, biosecurity, safety, or operational compliance.
7. Assist in training and supporting growers, contractors, and team members to promote consistent performance and achievement of production goals.
8. Follow and promote all safety initiatives to maintain a safe work environment and support a zero-accident culture.
9. Maintain positive working relationships with growers, contractors, and all company personnel.
10. Be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and adverse weather conditions as required to support live production operations.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
1. Must have poultry production experience with demonstrated leadership, supervisory, or team coordination abilities preferred.
2. Must possess strong knowledge of animal welfare, biosecurity, and food production safety regulations.
3. Must know how to effectively utilize a personal computer and a variety of software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
4. Must possess strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
5. Must possess a valid and active driver’s license and have the ability to be insured through the company.
6. Must possess skills in communicating in a courteous and professional manner, both verbally and in writing, with team members, contractors, and contract growers.
7. Must have strong time management and prioritization skills.
8. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
9. Must be able to work in all temperature conditions, assisting growers, contractors, and other employees with the safe handling and production of live animals.
10. Must be able to work in loud working conditions where volume may fluctuate throughout the workday.
11. Must be able to pass required physical requirements, including demonstration the ability to lift the required weight for the position.
12. Ability to stand or walk for an entire 8-hour shift.
13. Ability to reflect the values of the company in a public setting.
14. Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
15. Must be familiar with and in compliance with The Packers and Stockyards Act in all assigned duties and responsibilities.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
1. Experience in poultry production, live animal operations, food processing, or other agricultural practices is highly preferred.
2. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working on and in poultry farms or related live production environments; leadership experience preferred.
3. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Agriculture Sciences, Animal Science, or a related field preferred.
4. Bilingual skills in Spanish are preferred but not required.
This position requires that you cannot own or have any contact with animals with feathers, other than those owned by Lincoln Premium Poultry, during your employment with LPP.
