Assistant Buyer – Kids Furniture

Summary

Assists in sourcing, negotiating, and managing inventory for kids' furniture while ensuring safety compliance and competitive pricing in a retail environment.

  • Product Research & Sourcing: Conduct extensive research to identify the latest trends in kids’ furniture, focusing on safety, durability, and design. Establish a vendor base for sourcing high-quality, child-friendly products.
  • Safety & Quality Compliance: Ensure that all products comply with local and international safety standards for children’s furniture. Regularly audit suppliers to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Vendor Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with international and local suppliers, ensuring timely deliveries and favourable terms. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and payment terms.
  • Inventory & Order Management: Manage the ordering process for kids’ furniture items. Monitor inventory levels to ensure products are available to meet customer demand and seasonal fluctuations.
  • Pricing Strategy & Margin Management: Establish and maintain competitive pricing while ensuring acceptable profit margins. Collaborate with the finance team to monitor cost structures.
  • Market Intelligence & Trend Analysis: Monitor the kids’ furniture market to ensure the product range is relevant to changing customer demands. Track competitor offerings and adjust product lines accordingly.
  • Product Launch & Promotion: Assist in the development and execution of marketing strategies for new product launches. Work with marketing teams to create promotional campaigns and product displays.


Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, or similar fields.
  • Experience: 4-6 years of experience in retail buying, category management, or sourcing in the furniture industry. Prior experience in kids' furniture or similar categories is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of kids’ furniture, including design, functionality, and safety standards.
  • Experience in vendor negotiation and relationship management.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess trends, pricing, and market demands.
  • Knowledge of product life cycles and order management.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English.
