ASSISTANT CENTER DIRECTOR

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Los Angeles Field Office, Electronics Center of Excellence and Expertise (ELEC-CEE) located in Long Beach, CA.

The incumbent serves as an Assistant to the Center Director. The Assistant Center Director is responsible for management and supervision of one of the Center's three divisions which focus on either the Enforcement, Validation & Compliance, or Partnership aspects of the Center's strategic mission and responsibilities. This position starts at a salary of $146,632.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $190,627.00 (GS-14, Step 10) . Typical work assignments include: Managing national strategic trade activities to accomplish the CBP trade mission, to include revenue collection, summary review and validation processes, and trade enforcement actions associated with the importation and exportation of merchandise involved in international trade. Managing the daily activities and providing oversight of operational and tactical trade responsibilities within the Center. Directing the national trade policy and national trade program functions of CBP by administering account-based principles, providing uniformity and clarity for the development of CBP's national trade strategy. Contributing to the development of national policy and processing strategies unique to an assigned industry, thereby increasing business certainty for industry partners. Ensuring that national policy implementation is monitored and evaluated to ensure nationwide uniformity within their Center. Assisting with the management of organizational changes associated with the assigned Center. Planning, directing, and timely executing all trade program activity pertaining to an assigned industry, including development and assignment of goals and objectives for supervisors of subordinate employees. Contributing to the development of strategic goals for the Center ensuring that the Center goals align with Agency goals. Managing, through direct reports, a multi-disciplinary staff.
