Assistant Coach for Softball (Part-time, 10-months, Onsite)

Wilson College is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and student-centered Part-Time Assistant Coach to support all aspects of our NCAA Division III softball program. Reporting to the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach will help foster a competitive and positive team environment while ensuring compliance with NCAA, United East Conference, and College policies and regulations.

The successful candidate will be passionate about softball, committed to mentoring student-athletes, and dedicated to supporting their academic, athletic, and personal development. Primary Responsibilities

Coaching

  • Attend and assist with practices, competitions, team meetings, recruiting events, community service activities, and fundraising events.
  • Assist with the recruitment of prospective student-athletes.
  • Help organize and implement effective practice and training sessions to support student-athlete skill development.
  • Assist with game preparation, scouting, and strategy implementation.
  • Provide instruction in sport-specific skills and areas of expertise.
  • Maintain current knowledge of softball rules and NCAA regulations.
  • Serve as a positive role model and reinforce departmental expectations regarding sportsmanship, conduct, and academic success.

Administration

  • Support the administration and operation of the softball program with the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Participate in conference calls, meetings, committees, and other department-related activities as assigned.
  • Complete administrative tasks and requests for information in a timely manner.

Additional Duties

  • Serve as a game administrator and supervise student game staff for out-of-season athletic events as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Athletics Department.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, collegiate playing experience, and/or coaching experience.
  • Playing and/or coaching experience in softball, preferably at the collegiate level.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required state and federal background clearances.

Preferred

  • Previous coaching experience at the collegiate level.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
