Job Summary
The Assistant Construction Manager supports construction and renovation projects within a government facility. This role assists with day-to-day site oversight, coordination of stakeholders, compliance with codes and safety standards, and reporting—while gaining hands-on experience in federal construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with oversight of ground-up and renovation construction activities
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients
- Conduct regular site visits and monitor daily construction progress
- Support compliance with building codes (IBC, NFPA, ASHRAE)
- Assist with inspections, quality control, and safety enforcement
- Support scheduling, reporting, and documentation
- Assist with oversight of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, and building systems
- Promote safety programs and assist with emergency response procedures
- Support energy efficiency initiatives and troubleshooting efforts
Requirements
- 2–3 years of experience in construction management or site supervision
- Strong understanding of construction methods and building systems
- OSHA certification (required)
- NYC Refrigeration and/or Air Conditioning Operator License (required)
- Universal Refrigerant Certification (required)
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to work on-site in a secure government facility
- Preferred: CCM certification
